Questionnaires
In an effort to gain a more accurate international picture of RHD control the World Heart Federation has developing 2 questionnaires. We invite authorised persons to participate and we hope to use the information received from these questionnaires as the basis for a strategy that may involve awareness raising, lobbying and research around these issues.
Benzathine penicillin G questionnaire
Benzathine penicillin G is given as regular injections to prevent recurrent rheumatic fever in people with a history of rheumatic fever or RHD. Obtaining an adequate, affordable supply of good quality brands has been a problem in many countries despite the fact that it is on the World Health Organisation list of essential drugs. This questionnaire explores information about brands currently in use, the quality of supplies and additional relevant information for each country.
Rheumatic Heart Disease Questionnaire
This questionnaire explores available public health resources and control strategies currently employed to help reduce the burden of RHD. A section is also dedicated to reporting epidemiology.
