Congress venue

Conveniently located in the heart of the Beijing Olympic Green, the China National Convention Center (CNCC) is right next to the Bird's Nest (China National Stadium), the Water Cube (National Aquatics Center) and National Indoor Stadium. The CNCC complex consists of the Convention Center and its exhibition hall, the CNCC Grand Hotel and the InterContinental Hotel. The center itself is 398m long, 148m wide and 42m high.

During the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the plenary hall on CNCC's fourth floor was the site for fencing preliminaries and finals, Modern Pentathlon (fencing and shooting);and the exhibition space on the first floor was the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and the Main Press Center (MPC).
Since the Olympic Games ceased, CNCC has undertaken extensive renovations to refurbish CNCC as a world class convention centre.

CNCC is proud of its stunning architectural design. Its front appearance reminds the viewer of traditional Chinese quoins, illustrating rich Chinese history and culture, combining tradition and modernity, and forging a bridge to the future.

Sitting in the center of the Olympic commercial circle between Beijing's fourth and fifth ring roads, CNCC boasts an enviable location. It's only 30 minutes drive to the airport and the subway station is connected with CNCC which enables people to quickly go to the city center, the airport, the Beijing Railway station, the central business district and many tourist attractions.

Insurance

The organizers will accept no liability for personal injuries sustained by or for loss or damage to property belonging to Congress participants and accompanying persons, either during or as a result of the Congress or during all tours and activities. It is therefore recommended that participants arrange their own personal health, accident and travel insurance. Companies, Congress participants and accompanying persons should also arrange their own property loss, damage insurance or any other necessary insurance.

Tobacco free policy

Tobacco smoking is a major cause of preventable early death throughout the world. Cigarette smokers have almost double the risk of dying from coronary heart disease compared with non-smokers. Exposure of non-smokers to environmental tobacco smoke is increasingly suspected as being a cause of coronary heart disease.
The World Heart Federation is active globally in reducing the prevalence of smoking. Workplaces, community, health care, educational institutions, food industry, health professionals and Governments are important settings for implementing this policy.
All premises occupied by the World Heart Federation, including those such as the CNCC that are used temporarily by the Federation, must be smoke-free.
The WCC Congress Committees thank all participants and exhibitors for not smoking in the congress venue and its immediate surroundings at all times.
