WCC SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS 2010 NEWS / November 2009

The congress venue: China National Convention Center (CNCC)

The WCC Scientific Sessions 2010 will take place in the completely refurbished China National Convention Center (CNCC), providing outstanding convention and exhibition facilities in the heart of the Olympic Green.

During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Center served as the main press center and international broadcasting location as well as a site for competitions. Since then, it has been totally refurbished to become an impressive congress and exhibition center with state-of-the-art technical equipment, spacious rooms and environmental-friendly facilities.

The stunning architectural design of this large building – 398m long, 148m wide and 42m high - combines tradition and modernity, with the front appearance of the CNCC reminding the viewer of traditional Chinese quoins and the design of the roof following the concept of the ancient Chinese curvilinear architecture. Besides this main building, the complex includes two hotels (CNCC Grand Hotel and the Intercontinental Hotel), connected to the center by a walkway.

The CNCC is ideally located in the heart of the Olympic Green, adjacent to the National Stadium (Bird Nest), the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) and the National Indoor Stadium. The subway station located directly in front of the building enables quick access to the city center, hotels and major touristic attractions, and the airport is only a 30 minute drive away (outside of rush hour).
