Cardiovascular polypill - current and evolving landscape for primary and second prevention

Take a look at the new report which was commissioned by the Wellcome Trust and conducted by Globe Life Sciences, and presented at the Third Cardiovascular Combination Pharmacotherapy Global Summit, convened by the World Heart Federation on the 8th June 2016, Mexico City, Mexico.

The report assesses the current landscape for the polypill in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), with the key aim of providing an update on the accumulated evidence in this field. Read more >

 

 

Report on sodium intake and cardiovascular disease in LMICs

As part of our contribution to the debate on sodium reduction and the benefits to cardiovascular health, a technical report on sodium intake and cardiovascular disease in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) was commissioned by the World Heart Federation, European Society of Hypertension and the European Public Health Association.

This report is now published in the European Heart Journal and available to download here.

The World Heart Federation continues to align with World Health Organization Global Action Plan Targets in order to drive efforts towards our 25by25 goal: a 25% reduction in premature mortality caused by cardiovascular disease CVD, including heart disease and stroke, by 2025.

Urbanization and cardiovascular disease - Raising heart-healthy children in today’s cities

On World Heart Day, the World Heart Federation calls for a new approach to make cities heart healthier for the children who live in them. The call to action follows research commissioned by them which shows that increasing urbanization threatens the current and future heart health of children. Cardiovascular harms from tobacco use and secondhand smoke
The report, which was released at the World Heart Federation World Congress of Cardiology in Dubai in April 2012, reveals significant gaps in public awareness regarding the cardiovascular risks of tobacco use and secondhand smoke. The report, was commissioned by the World Heart Federation and written by the International Tobacco Control Project (ITC Project), in collaboration with the Tobacco Free Initiative at the World Health Organization. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of World Heart Day the World Heart Federation launched the ‘State of the Heart’ CVD Report. The World Heart Federation has initiated this report to reflect on the great achievements in cardiovascular disease (CVD) over the past decade, and raise awareness of the challenges still ahead of us in the fight against the number one killer worldwide.
