Advance the global fight against cardiovascular disease

  • Drive the global health vision of the World Heart Federation through voting in the General Assembly*
  • Influence national and international health and development agendas, policies and programmes by participating in members’ meetings, workshops, web conferences and providing strategic input into local, national, regional and global lobbying instruments
  • Raise the priority and awareness of cardiovascular disease (CVD) amongst the general public, healthcare professionals, governments and policy makers through collective letter writing campaigns, adoption of template materials and toolkits provided exclusively to members and direct advocacy with decision makers where appropriate
  • Effect policy and advocacy change through World Heart Federation’s projects and workshops using a bottom-up approach
  • Participate in regional World Health Organization meetings to represent the CVD burden and needs of your constituency: we at the World Heart Federation advocate for our members’ representation at these meetings

  • Learn and keep abreast of global CVD developments through our quarterly newsletters, members’ emails and advocacy and science news updates
  • Share your knowledge of CVD, research, education/training and policy/advocacy by participating in our scientific and congress committees and writing groups
  • Promote your work by contributing articles to our newsletter and website as well as providing case studies for our toolkits and campaign materials, and learn from others’ contributions
  • Increase capacity and communicate best practice through participating in World Heart Federation’s  projects and workshops with experts from the field, researchers, programme managers and public health workers
  • Submit session proposals for symposia, debates, meet the experts and how-to sessions at the World Congress of Cardiology

Connect to the international community and your peers

  • Take advantage of the access to global experts and key thought leaders by contacting the World Heart Federation for speakers or leadership representation at your meetings and events, as well as spokespersons for your local media activities
  • Network with colleagues from heart foundations and cardiac societies worldwide through members’ meetings, workshops, the General Assembly and World Congress of Cardiology members-only events
  • Work with international health and development experts to create advocacy and communications strategies by representing the World Heart Federation on panels and in working groups and committees (by invitation)

  • Implement our “ready-to-use” awareness campaign for World Heart Day: the largest global awareness campaign on heart disease and stroke with over 100 countries taking part every year; and Go Red for Women, which specifically aims to raise awareness that heart disease and stroke is the number one killer of women too - a little known fact
