A PODCAST FOR WORLD HEART DAY FROM NATURE CLINICAL PRACTICE AND THE WORLD HEART FEDERATION

22 September 2006 - The World Heart Federation and Nature Clinical Practice Cardiovascular Medicine are delighted to announce their collaboration on the creation of an original podcast to mark the occasion of World Heart Day 2006. The podcast is supported by an educational grant from Sanofi-Aventis, and is now entirely free to access online at www.nature.com/ncpcardio/podcast. It is also available to download on the iTunes website.

World Heart Day will take place on September 24, 2006. The theme of this year’s event is “How Young is Your Heart?”, with the aim of encouraging people around the world to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle to help maintain a heart for life. For more information on World Heart Day, visit www.worldheartday.com.

The podcast is comprised of all-original material, including interviews with key figures in the world of cardiovascular health, such as Dr Sidney Smith, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the World Heart Federation, and Dr Valentin Fuster, President of the World Heart Federation and Editor in Chief of
Nature Clinical Practice Cardiovascular Medicine. It also includes original material recorded at the World
Congress of Cardiology in Barcelona this year.

“We’re delighted to be collaborating with Nature Publishing Group in this way,” commented Janet Voûte, Chief Executive Officer of the World Heart Federation, who is also featured as an interviewee in the podcast. “This podcast has the potential to bring the crucial key messages of World Heart Day to an even larger global audience and we are excited to be exploring the potential of new media in this way.”
