The preliminary programme vouches for the “breadth and reach” of the topics that will be covered at the congress, Dr Sheikh and Dr Faella said.

They continued, “The main objective of the scientific programme is to feature globally relevant topics in the diagnosis, management and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Building on this strong scientific knowledge, another key objective is to address public policy and advocacy topics related to cardiovascular disease. Through this sharing of science, the congress fosters capacity building and extends partnerships that create a dynamic global effort to address the burden of heart disease and stroke”.

The sessions will be presented in English, except for several symposia to be presented in Spanish. The Spanish-language symposia will be presented by the South American Society of Cardiology. Simultaneous translation will be made available in key sessions.

The preliminary programme was released at the Congress of the European Society of Cardiology, 1-5 September 2007 in Vienna, Austria.
