WORLD HEART FEDERATION LAUNCHES IMPROVED WEB SITE
The World Heart Federation has remodelled its web site and improved on the old by being easier to navigate and more visually appealing. There is more information presented more clearly, and visitors can find it with less effort.
There is a new section on cardiovascular health, with graphics and diagrams, which provides clear information to the general public. For example, all of the World Heart Federation’s “fact sheets” have been updated to give visitors the most up-to-date information about cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. There is more information about the World Heart Federation’s demonstration projects in Grenada, China, the South Pacific Islands and Colombia. In addition, there is information about the World Heart Federation’s nearly 200 member organizations.
A lighter, cleaner home page
Many of the most striking changes are to the home page, which has a lighter, cleaner and more inviting look. It offers visitors ready and easy access to information about the World Heart Federation’s most significant programmes, including the World Congress of Cardiology, the next of which is scheduled for May 2008 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Go Red for Women campaign for women’s heart health. It also prominently displays the World Heart Federation’s mission, which is to help people live better and longer through the prevention and control of heart disease and stroke, especially in the low- and middle-income countries.
The “members only” section has been equally reshaped. As with the old version, members may access tool kits for World Heart Day and Go Red for Women. They can also learn about other members’ news and activities, and benefit from World Heart Federation material. More improvements to it are anticipated, including that each member eventually will have a personal log-in and password, according to Website Manager,Sara Bowen. Until then, members should use their current password.
A service enhancement tool
A service enhancement tool“I think people will find the new version to be a much more comprehensive than the old,” said World Heart Federation Chief Executive Officer Janet Voûte. “It puts us in a better position to serve the communities that rely on us in the fight against heart disease and stroke.”
Ms Voûte stressed the team nature of the web site redevelopment effort. World Heart Federation Director of Cause Marketing Danièle Letoré-Castle managed it with key contributions from Sara Bowen, Development and IT Manager Enzo Bondioni, Membership Coordinator Jane Park and Congress Division Director Adrian Ott.
The new version was designed by Tullo Marshall Warren Ltd of the United Kingdom with development and technical implementation by Cobweb of Geneva, Switzerland.
The launch took place in mid July 2007.
