The World Health Organization's (WHO) 66th World Health Assembly will be held in Geneva 20-28 May 2013. This is the supreme decision-making body of the WHO and this year's meeting promises to include important decisions and resolutions regarding the global fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

By mobilizing our member network and participating in key advocacy events, including the World Health Assembly and United Nations (UN) meetings, we reach the decision-makers directly. United efforts resulted in the UN holding a landmark High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in September of 2011 where 28 heads of state pledged a commitment to reduce the global disease burden. In partnership with our sister federations in cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease, we continue to build on this momentum and lobby for the rising burden of NCDs to be addressed in the global health agenda and the future global development goals.
