Awareness

Fighting heart disease and saving women's lives starts with knowing the risks: although heart disease and stroke kill more than all cancers, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and malaria combined, most women don’t know that it is their number one killer. In 2008, for example only 8% of women in Singapore were aware that cardiovascular disease is their leading cause of mortality.

Running a Go Red for Women campaign considerably helps to raise awareness:  only 3% of the Australian population was aware of the CVD threat in 2004, but after implements of the Go Red for Women campaign this number had risen to 25% in 2007. In USA, 30% of women recognized heart disease as their leading cause of death in 1997; now more than 50% know their risks.

Help us to spread the news:  join your national campaign, or share the fact that cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in women with 5 friends, and ask them to share it with 5 other people!
