
In Cameroon, the Cameroon Heart Foundation (CAMHEF) celebrated its eighth edition of World Heart Day with a Heart Walk in Yaoundé, Douala, Limbé, Bafoussam and Garoua. More than 5000 people participated, including the Minister of Sport. From 24-30 September, diverse activities were held around the country as part of National Heart Week. An intense media campaign was diffused on national television, radio and in newspapers in partnership with AES-SONEL, the national electricity company. In addition, a free screening initiative was launched in various public hospitals including Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Ntui, Souza and Nkapa. A total of six thousand people were screened free of charge. Other activities included a press cocktail, continuing education symposium on preventive cardiology for doctors and nurses, conferences and educational talks for the public.
