World Heart Day in Mozambique
In Mozambique, the country’s first lady, Maria da Luz Guebaza, helped to lead the traditional World Heart Day morning walk in the capital city of Maputo. Afterward, there were physical activities for adults – aerobics, basketball and volleyball. For children there was rope skipping and gymnastics. In addition, there were free cardiovascular health screenings, which included measurements for high blood sugar, high blood pressure and obesity. The celebration was covered live by private television. Other World Heart Day activities were held in Beira, Nampula and Quelimane.
