The Venezuelan Heart Foundation and the Venezuelan Society of Cardiology, and their partners, celebrated World Heart Day with walks, marathons, dances, health screenings and media campaigns. On 26 September, in the municipality of Baruta, the Associated Educational Institutes held a seminar for teachers entitled, “Teaming Up for a Healthy Heart”. From 1 to 5 October, the teachers shared key World Heart Day messages with their students. The messages included the importance of eating well, being physically active and not smoking. During physical education classes, the students participated in a game that involved answering questions about heart health.
Institutos Educacionales Asociados - Baruta (non-member)
The Institutos Educacionales Asociados of Baruta (Caracas) has developed a series of World Heart Day activities for students, teachers and parents.
On September 26, a seminar entitled 'Teaming up for a healthy heart' was held to educate teachers on cardiovascular health and to inform them of the messages they should transmit to their students.
From October 1-5, teachers will open their classes by repeating the key World Heart Day messages and reiterating the importance of eating well, doing exercise and not smoking. During physical education classes, children will have to opportunity to participate in a game where they will visit various posts and answer questions on what they have learned about heart health. Students in computer classes will access the World Heart Federation web page to read more about World Heart Day and cardiovascular health. Finally, English teachers will also incorporate the key messages from World Heart Day into their lessons.
Information on healthy lifestyles and heart disease prevention will be sent to parents to allow them to provide adequate support from home.

Fundación Amigos del Corazón Valencia
World Heart Day 2007 was celebrated in Valencia with free health checks, counselling and group physical exercises under the theme "United for a Healthy Heart". The goal of the checks was to raise awareness of the importance of prevention of cardiovascular disease through the adoption of healthy lifestyles and the reduction of coronary risk factors. Approximately 500 people were tested for high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose as well as for body-mass index.
