The World Heart Day campaign in Japan focused on blood pressure and waist circumference measurement to prevent heart disease and stroke. Blood pressure measurement was provided and tape measures were distributed in several locations.

Public seminars, CPR lectures and heart checks were held in Aichi. A press seminar on myocardial infarction in the Japanese was promoted by the Japanese Circulation Society. The lecturers and staff wore World Heart Day T-shirts. A special campaign was undertaken at the football stadium with Kyoto Sanga F.C. in Kyoto. The same day, there was a public seminar and blood pressure measurement in Tokyo. On 28 September, a Nordic walking event was held at Nagano Olympic Stadium. The same day, blood pressure and body composition measurement were provided at Osaka station. About 22,000 people participated in all the activities and 4,000 people were screened.
