The 2019 cohort marks the sixth year of the Emerging Leaders Programme and focuses on heart failure. The think tank seminar will take place in Missenden Abbey, UK and brings together a team of Emerging Leaders from 18 countries across 5 continents.
The training involves participants taking part in a five-day think tank seminar and collaborative group work based on a proposals developed during the seminar. Through this programme, the World Heart Federation is aiming to develop a global pool of talent that will have far-reaching benefits for the future of cardiovascular health and tackling premature mortality caused by heart disease.

The fifth Emerging Leaders Think Tank Seminar was held in Kunshan, China from 24-29 June, 2018. The conference focused on Stroke prevention, treatment and rehabilitation and will bring together 25 Emerging Leaders and 9 faculty members. Emerging Leaders will come with project proposals aligned with implementation science, health policy and health systems. Thank you to all of our faculty, emerging leaders, and hosts.

The fourth Emerging Leaders Think Tank Seminar was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 18-23 June, 2017. The conference focused on Essential Medicines, and brought together Emerging Leaders, Faculty, and Sponsors from 20 different countries. Emerging Leaders presented project proposals aligned with implementation science, health policy and health systems. The third Emerging Leaders Think Tank Seminar was held in Bangalore, India from 13-18 March, 2016. The conference focused on Tobacco, and brought together Emerging Leaders, Faculty, and Sponsors from 20 different countries. Emerging Leaders presented project proposals aligned with the WHF Roadmap on Tobacco and Framework Convention on Tobacco Control addressing Cessation Support (WHO FCTC Article 14), Financial and Technical Resources (WHO FCTC Article 6), and Smoke-Free Policy (WHO FCTC Article 8). The second Emerging Leaders Think Tank Seminar was held in Lima, Peru from 23-27 March, 2015. The conference focused on Raised Blood Pressure, and brought together Emerging Leaders, Faculty, and Sponsors from 17 different countries. The inaugural Emerging Leaders Think Tank Seminar was held in Hamilton, Ontario from 23-27 March, 2014. The conference was a great success and resulted in three research proposals, all of which have been approved for seed funding by the World Heart Federation.
