Our global sponsors help us tirelessly in our movement to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) around the world.
This World Heart Day, we’ve joined forces to make World Heart Day more powerful than ever. With their support, we are raising awareness and encouraging individuals, families, communities and governments to drive the CVD agenda and help people live longer, better, more heart-healthy lives.
Thank you to Boehringer Ingelheim, Manulife/John Hancock and Pfizer Rare Diseases, our official global partners for World Heart Day, for their sponsorship. We also wish to recognize BMS Pfizer and Withings who provided additional support this year.
This World Heart Day, we are proud to be teaming up with the World Heart Federation.
Today, there are around 425 million adults in the world living with diabetes, and half of these people are expected to die early due to heart disease. Even when blood sugar levels are under control, having type 2 diabetes means that there is an increased risk of a heart attack or stroke. We need to build on the momentum created by recent guideline updates and attention to this issue to spark conversations between people with type 2 diabetes, their caregivers and healthcare professionals about the risk of heart disease.
At Boehringer Ingelheim, we are committed to improving both the quality of life and health outcomes of people living with diabetes.
Manulife is a leading international financial services group, with a mission to make decisions easier and lives better. As part of delivering on our mission, we are invested in advancing the health and equity of our customers, employees and communities.
We know that simple actions and behavioural changes can improve quality of life—it’s the premise underlying life insurance products like John Hancock Vitality, Manulife Vitality and ManulifeMOVE, which are helping people lead longer, healthier lives.
The World Heart Day My Heart, Your Heart campaign is all about encouraging individuals to commit to healthier habits by making heart promises, which goes hand-in-hand with Manulife’s commitment to promoting good health and active living around the world. That’s why Manulife is excited to support World Heart Day on September 29. By making just a few small changes in our daily lives, we can all live longer, better, more heart-healthy lives. When it comes to your health, a little can do a lot.
At Pfizer, we are passionate about people. Every one of us is unique, every one of us has a story to tell, and we believe every one of us has the right to health equity. Our purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives by working both for and with patients. We have a long history in cardiovascular medicine and we continue to be driven by those who matter most – patients. Today, our teams around the world are working hard to apply their knowledge and expertise to help find solutions to unmet medical needs. Nowhere is this more apparent than in rare disease.
There are more than 7,000 known rare diseases. One of these is called transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy or ATTR-CM, which is a form of cardiac amyloidosis. ATTR-CM is a rare, underdiagnosed, and fatal condition, resulting in progressive heart failure.
This World Heart Day, Pfizer in partnership with the World Heart Federation is proud to showcase its leadership among the community of Amyloidosis Heart Heroes. Our promise to the cardiology community is to share our knowledge of this rare condition to help accelerate suspicion and diagnosis with a view to improving care for all. We promise to be the catalysts that transform the patient journey.
We all have a role to play in preventing deaths from heart disease and reducing its impact on our everyday lives. This World Heart Day, we want to inspire the cardiology community to think about cardiac amyloidosis and learn more about this rare and fatal condition. We support the World Heart Federation in its mission and believe that everyone, including those affected by rare conditions, has the fundamental right to heart health.
