Maharishi Markandeshwar Institute of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (MMIPR) organized World Heart Day on 29 September 2020 through a Google meet platform. The theme of the event was "Use heart to beat cardiovascular diseases". The event was conducted from 9am onwards starting with the guest talk of Dr Manpreet Singh Salooja, Head of Department of  Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery, SPR Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana on “Recent Advances in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery”.

Then Dr Parmveer Kaushal, a Certified specialist in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy, New York presented his talk on “Pre and Post Rehabilitation in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery". The talk of both the speakers was very informative, providing recent updates in cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries and its rehabilitation. There was the conduction of different competitions for BPT and MPT students of the institute which included the following:

  • Article writing on the topic “Prevention of CVD by physical activity”
  • Photography competition with the theme “I encouraged people to exercise in COVID”
  • Poster competition on “Exercising heart is a healthy heart”

The winners of the respective competitions were announced and appraised.

The students of BPT, MPT courses and faculty of MMIPR enthusiastically participated in the event.
